Gracie McCarthy, artist

Contact

Hello!

My name is Gracie and I am a junior at NC State University with a passion for creativity and artistry. A great appreciation for aesthetics and design is a core value of mine, so I dedicate my free time to creating as much as I can. I love traditional art such as drawing and painting as well as digital art such as photography and graphic design. I will graduate in the spring of 2023 with a BA in communication media and a minor in psychology and intend on pursuing a graduate degree in archives and records management.

Archives and record management is special to me because perserving all aspects of our history and using it to inform our attitudes and practices for our future is crucial not only for the survival of important cultural materials, but also to learn from our mistakes of the past so that we are not destined to repeat them.

Design Interests

Although I am very new to web design, I have experience working with other design programs, including:

I also have some beginning experience with programming languages, including:

Career Aspirations

My hope for after graduate school is to find a point of intersection for my interests in media, design, art, archives and special collections, and preservation of history that converges into an exciting career. Right now, I believe that would be something I could find working in an art museum's archives. The North Carolina Museum of Art has always been my favorite place to go ever since I was in high school, and I would love to take a look into their archives.
